TUTORIAL: EPG auto adjust English
OK then,
here we go with the EPG auto adjust tutorial in English.
What is this all about:
When go to see the recordings you have prepared from the EPG menu, you normally check
that you have lost either a piece from begining or a piece from the ending.
An you normally get not very happy
The EPG of the TV stations should improve their timings....
So, normally, what i done is first program from EPG, and then go to timer-rec menu
to add time in the begining and the end.... normally -5/+5 minutes.
So, this issue we think is solved in a cliean way with the use of the technique: triggers.
The idea is to add a update trigger in main programming DB, so the times automatically get changed into +5/+5 minutes.
The main file with the DB of recordings is:
/usr/local/etc/dvdplayer/schedule_record.db
You can read more about triggers in:
http://www.sqlite.org/lang_createtrigger.html
and
http://linuxgazette.net/109/chirico1.html
If you want to read more about how this tutorial was investigated, you can read more at:
https://ms450.forosactivos.net/principal-preguntas-ayudas-f1/epg_adjust-t114.htm
This tutorial is relatively safe, and the user can go back with the changes easily.
But as always, we are not responible for any damage to your equipment.
You need only to do these 3 steps:
*1* Step 1. We connect via telnet and make a backup copy of the actual DB.
cd /usr/local/etc/dvdplayer
cp schedule_record.db schedule_record.db_backup
[[[
This step is not compulsory, it is just a backup.
If someday we want to go back with the changes, we have to execute the below:
cd /usr/local/etc/dvdplayer
cp schedule_record.db_backup schedule_record.db
]]]
*2* Step 2: we have to download the new DB with the trigger incorporated.
Now you have to choose which is the DB fits you most:
For -1/+1 minute:
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/684543/varios/ms450h/varios/schedule_record_1min.db
For 5 minutes -/+:
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/684543/varios/ms450h/varios/schedule_record_5min.db
For 10 minutes -/+:
wget http://dl.dropbox.com/u/684543/varios/ms450h/varios/schedule_record_10min.db
*3* Step 3: we overwrite with the actual DB
cp schedule_record_1min.db schedule_record.db
Attention! that you can lose your actual programings ..(if you have any)
That's all folks!!!!

Re: TUTORIAL: EPG auto adjust English
Thanks, but how do I get the downloaded db file onto the machine in the first place?
I have never used Telnet before, but found your instructions easy enough to follow.
Ahh, never mind, I've got it now.
Thanks very much!

Dropbox Problem
Thank you for this English guide.
I am trying this and found that I could not access the dropbox file unless I logged in to the Spanish page. A little tricky given my lack of Spanish but eventually got the file. Now will try to Telnet to the MS409D to do the rest.
Thank you very much. Posted this to help other English speakers find their way.
