New firmware/applications for LG MS400H/MS450H MS408D/MS409D
Name of new firmware: MS Harmony Pack (Nov-2010) [MS Multimedia Station]

Thanks to keltek, and Testers group.

Today we lanuch the last version to upgrade our LG equipments,
thi is for sure, the best available firmware.

Main features:
- new version of busybox.
- format problem solved ok.
- PipeManagement (PM) v3.3
- lgmenu v.104

I think that the GZ file is incorrectly named in the zip file. It exists as 'Custom-KV-v104.tar.gz, whereas the manual says it should be 'Custom-KV-v104-full.tar.gz'. Should this file be renamed? I'm having trouble getting it to run.

Nope, with this naming the installation script counts, so you can start the installing.
Anyway, this is only typo in document but should not make a troubles

Hmm. When I press 986 it shows '-33', but if I have a look with Internet Explorer the LG Menu says v1.04. Has it run correctly?

PM version is 3.3, while lgmenu is 104,

I have downloaded "bad" firmware from SF.net (filesize 18739200 B) and I have realized that it includes old PipeManagement (version 2.7) so I have upgraded PM to 3.3 and it seems OK now. Was there any other problems except of PM 2.7? I would not like to re-flash it again if seems OK

I'm sure I uploaded the right file but at SF.net was old file strange. I don't know, which version this was. I recommend the reflashing.

The easiest way, how to get the same state with updated fw:
- make a backup
- reflash
- make a restore

Well, I have made backup, reflashed FW and made restore but PM failed with "Error opening shadow IR device" and PM reinstall doesn't help. Never mind, I will install it again from the scratch.

Hi Everyone,

First I want to say a big thanks to all the team. After long investigation (and one bad purchase that lasted for a day before I took it back to the shop) I bought a 408D on the weekend. It is my first PVR, and although it's pretty good 'out of the box' a big part of my decision in buying was also knowing these units have a growing 'homebrew' community doing great things. Thanks also for supporting those of us who don't speak Spanish or French (only Czech, English and a little German in my case haha).

I am having small issue with the Harmony Pack unfortunately.

I successfully installed the Harmony Firmware (December package in this thread) and Pipemanager following English user guide (can see LG skip language selection on init screen, and HD structure has changed to include 'extra' folders from the package like BT etc).

I am having problems with the second part of the procedure however, in installing the LGMenu / Custom Package files.

System will flash and install firmware, but after the update has completed will not install custom package when I follow steps in the guide and leave the USB in and power down + power back on. It SEEMS like it does not read the USB anymore after the first parts of the firmware flash. I wait 30 seconds, I wait five minutes, I wait ten minutes - nothing.

Samba & BT are not working, and I can't navigate to web interface over wireless, so I'm pretty sure custom package has not installed.

Does anyone else with the 408D in Australia have the same problem ?

My original firmware was latest LG one that I installed over network using the LG UI when I first got the unit.

System info says this is still the one I have installed, even though I have put in Harmony Firmware as I mentioned and Pipemanager itself seems to be installed as I outlined above.

Any help would be much appreciated !

Also, in 'worst case' if I had to re-install the REAL LG firmware, does anyone know where to get this (LG AU support site doesn't have it) ?

Unit won't let me install from LG over Network now because it thinks I still have the original LG firmware installed (like I said in my last post, Pipemanager seems to be installed but System Info still shows original LG firmware version).

EDIT: OK I think I found this over on the French forum, just need to confirm this is safe to use with the 408D. The version I'd be looking to use is official 20101027A from http://ms450h.forumactif.com/t38-firmwares-officiels-lg - can someone confirm this is safe (assuming it is and all the models use the same base MS400 firmwares) ?

Yes, also, in our forum in tutorials you might found athread with the oficial firmwares.

About the install of lgmenu, it should work.
I guess your hard disk is correctly formatted , right?
You might find with a different usb memory stick.

If you burn ok wit this harmony, i am nearly sure, you can use any oficial firmware listed in the mentioned forum.
