Bueno,

http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strace
y ver si por aqui, se puede seguir leyendo el log sin que se quede congelado.

En la version que estamos cerrando strace ya viene incluido de serie.

Thanks for an idea! I am planning to test the movie mode vs recording thoroughly soon, unfortunately after flashing latest firmware (104-VII) the PM behaves quite strange (it seems starting OK but 9xx codes works only, although the ini file is correct and reinstalling does not help ...) so I'd like to wait to the official release, install it from the scratch and then start tests.

vic1972 escribió:Hello George, Smile

Hi Victor,

I have done some tests of starting scheduled recordings while using MOVIE mode:
1. One recording started while a file was playing
2. One recording started while a file was pausing
3. One recording started while a Recordings Menu was displayed
4. Two recordings started simultaneously while a file was playing
5. Second recording started while the first recording had already run and a file was playing
6. Second recording started while the first recording had already run and a file was pausing

The played files were both recordings (.ts) and multimedia files.

I have realized that all cases mentioned above were logged in both logs:
PipeManagement_vic1972.log: evita_popup_start_recording() etc.
teeout: RootAP::GenerateRecordFilename, schedule record etc.

So far I haven't found the case in which the problem should happen. Could you give me some example to check it, please?

hello,
you detected: PipeManagement_vic1972.log: evita_popup_start_recording() etc.

just when the pop-up appears, or during the 30 seconds the pop duration?

Anyway, I will have a second testing, probably with new OS underlayaring, we can have different timings.
thanks

I am sorry. Well, you are exactly right, the start recording is logged too late - just after pop-up disappears so is impossible to send "OK" to confirm pop-up ... But I think it could be used at least for a "partial" solution: if the start recording is detected in MOVIE mode then the LG could go to either the Recordings Menu or HDD Menu - well, it is not perfect ...

Hello,
I have tested, and we are still the same issue. Sad
So we better continue investigation,
strace, renicing process privileges so logs get writted sooner, etc
more ideas to investigate ...???

I don't know actually. I have tried to renice PipeManagement processes to the highest priority but unfortunately nothing changes Sad

well, i think that better to renice PM, is the other way round.
i mean, the problem is that dvdplayer stop logging out ,
for some reason, when playing movie;
so, probably renice negative PM?
or the other way round, max renice dvdplayer.

we have then also the second line of investigation, strace, which reads directly the kernell calls. ...

good luck Smile

If you want to have a go,
this is the command strace, probably wiki or google can provide you with different parameters to fetch
for the preferred information.
Thanks to user alonso_c for providing this tip. Smile

strace -e trace=write -e write=1,2 -p `cat /tmp/lock/.DvdPlayer` 2>&1

I have tried to max renice dvdplayer and some combinations of renicing other processes including PM but without success Sad
I have tested the strace too - it reflects timer recording start immediately in some way but I am not so guru to decide if it would be usable Wink

Exactly! I reported this problem to the Czech LG support a couple of weeks ago and they promised me to solve it. But they may be kidding Sad

I am working in a new work around trick, based in recording the steps the user did for playing a movie,
and then red-button repeats this sequence.
This is very experimental, and tricky but ... let's see how it finish...

OK,
the holidays are good for good ideas, Smile santa
sorry for late response, as i am away in holidays Wink

Both George and I had a very good idea to solve this issue, a new work around.

is to create force simbolic link (ln -f ) inside REC folder,
so each time the link is create with same filename,

So, in order to we first in list, as the user might have selected order by date, or order by alpha,
we have to issue after the ln -f command , the touch command, to put recent date.
also, we will choose first alfpha-char, in order to put first in list, like: _RecentFile

then we execute the $ which directs to rec folder, first file, YES
exactly, we have there our file Smile

so, the trick is very simple,
send the dollar command, and the OK command twice, and we are done!!! Smile
