MS400 and WD TV Live
I am wondering whether anyone has managed to access recordings on their MS400 using a WD TV Live media player.
I have Harmony Pack 1.2 loaded and running, and when logging into the web interface it indicates that the Samba service is running, so I thought I should be able to access the data on the MS400 from the WD TV Live.
I've changed the Workgroup Name in the MS400 smb.conf file to WORKGROUP, so that it matches the name in the WD TV, but I am unable to see any of the shares. I have tried all sorts of things, but without any luck.
Any suggestions would be gretaly appreictaed.
Thanks,
Nigel

Re: MS400 and WD TV Live
There can be very various issues
- check the firewall settings
- check the network (both devices should be on the same network - I mean the IP network)
- check the accessibility from other device (like desktop PC or notebook) to LG PVR

Re: MS400 and WD TV Live
Hi,
Both devices are on the same IP network and there are no firewall issues that I can find.
I am able to access the L PVR from my PC by navigating to \\IP Address\hdd, but am unable to get to it by trying to navigate using the device name ie \\LG400\hdd

Re: MS400 and WD TV Live
About this feature the component named "nmbd" must be running. You also need to configure properly smb.conf to be in the same workgroup. I have now installed Harmony Pack v1.3 and it works for me and I don't remember how it works under Harmony Pack 1.2.
Re: MS400 and WD TV Live
Thanks. I will load Harmony Pack 1.3 and see what happens.
I noticed with 1.2 that "nmdb" did not automatically start on boot, but even after manually starting, this still did not work. Does nmdb start automatically with 1.3? I had edited smb.conf to put the LG into the same workgroup as the WD.
I also found that the WD was sending out a name request, but the LG was not responding to it, as per the tcpdump below.
08:39:09.126070 IP (tos 0x0, ttl 64, id 0, offset 0, flags [DF], proto UDP (17), length 78)
192.168.1.7.33011 > 192.168.1.255.137: NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; BROADCAST
08:39:09.598276 IP (tos 0x0, ttl 64, id 0, offset 0, flags [DF], proto UDP (17), length 78)

192.168.1.7.33011 > 192.168.1.255.137: NBT UDP PACKET(137): QUERY; REQUEST; BROADCAST
3 packets captured
3 packets received by filter
0 packets dropped by kernel
I will let you know how I go when I get a chance to load the new firmware version.

Re: MS400 and WD TV Live
In the nmbd process, there were some problems of binding to device in Harmony 1.2 but this was fixed and in 1.3 the fix is included.
Re: MS400 and WD TV Live
I loaded 1.3 and everything worked straight away - thank you for your help.
